The Sofievka National Dendrological Park of the National Academy of Sciences located in Uman City of Cherkaskaja oblast is established far beyond the bounds of Ukraine as one of the ancientest creations of the world landscape art at the close of the XVIII - 1/2 XIX centuries and ranks with such masterpieces of the European park-building as the Balbi Garden in Florence (Italy), the San-Susi Park in Potsdam (Germany), and the Palace Park in Versailles (France).

The Sofievka National Dendrological Park deals with:
- studing of natural and cultural flora of the southern forest-steppe of Ukraine;
- reseaches of introduction and acclimatization of plants in this region
