OJSC flax integrated works “Starosambirsky” is one of the leading Ukrainian enterprises specializing in flax processing and secondary linen products manufacturing. It has 20-years of experience of working in this sector.

During the privatization process in 1995, the company was transformed into an open joint-stock company.

OJSC flax integrated works “Starosambirskyi” was awarded a diploma and a silver medal by the magazine on quality and commerce “ACTUALIDAD” (Madrid) for success achieved in commerce.

The company gained its competitive advantages through deeper processing of flax raw materials connected with a drastic reduction of flax acreage planted both in Lviv oblast and in Ukraine at large.

In search for a way out of this situation, two production lines for fiber manufacturing were dismantled and a number of workshops for flax fiber processing were established, namely:
- long-fiber dressed line production workshop;
- yarn-manufacturing workshop;
- string and household cords production workshop;
- fiber flax cottonization workshop;
- non-woven materials production workshop.

Moreover, the company’s leading specialists developed special technologies of manufacturing such products of flax-processing as cottonized fiber (cottonine) and medicinal cotton made of flax which differs from that made of cotton by its increased hygroscopicity and antiseptic effect; these two products are a novelty in the Ukrainian market of this sector.
Due to all that, the products manufactured by the flax integrated works are in demand both in internal and in external markets.

We currently offer our customers the following products manufactured by the company:
1.Products of primary flax-processing:
- long dressed flax lines (# 14.3-19.8)

In addition, a sewing workshop is operating within the flax integrated works specializing in sewing overalls, work mittens, and tarpaulin hoods for trucks; there is also a workshop manufacturing fiber materials working on requests from furniture factories.

Year by year, there is an increase in the production volumes and sales of the company’s products, due to which in 1999 the company was making profit, with the economic efficiency coming up to 6.5%.

Cooperating with agricultural enterprises specializing in flax-growing, we establish mutually beneficial conditions supplying them with combustive-lubricating materials, herbicides and using a system of partial advance payments as early as at the spring field works stage.

In our activity we, like any company in today’s market, are trying to be prepared for the changing environment, paying most attention to satisfying our customers’ needs and taking into account the consumer characteristics of our products as compared with our competitors’ ones.
That is why we are working in a customer-oriented way on mutually beneficial conditions and are prepared to consider every proposal.
