Main directions of activity:
- providing acceptance of applications for issuing protective documents concerning industrial property objects, examining the applications as to legal protection qualification, registering industrial property objects and conversion of their legal status as well as official publication of the appropriate information;
- participation in elaboration of proposals on forming the government policy in the sphere of industrial property protection and measures to follow this policy as well as in consequent implementation of the measures elaborated;
- participation in elaboration of proposals on improving the legal system of industrial property protection;
- ensuring within its competence, the fulfilment of international obligations of Ukraine in the sphere of industrial property protection, participation in preparing and concluding the international treaties of Ukraine concerning industrial property protection;
- providing the state registration of contracts making for the transfer of the rights for the industrial property objects registered in Ukraine as well as contracts on grant of permission (license contracts) to use these objects;
- information support for the functioning of the government system of industrial property protection: to create, update and maintain the patent-information database critical to the examination as well as the effective enquiry-search engine therefore;
- ensuring forming of national patent documentation funds in organs of the government system of scientific and technical information of Ukraine;
- conducting research and prepare proposals on the issues of improving examination methodology and quality as well as its legal and technical support;
- participation in proceedings related to the industrial property objects.
