Odessa National (former Imperial Novorossiysky) University named after I. I. Mechnikov was established on 13 May 1865 on the basis of Richelie Lyceum. The study process in the University is ensured by 3 Institutes (Institute of Mathematics, Economics and Mechanics, Post-Graduate Studies Institute, Institute of Social Sciences) and 8 faculties (Physical, Chemical, Biological, Geological-Geographical, Historical, Philological, Economics-Law, Romance and German Philology). The Institute also includes the Institute of Combustion and Non-Traditional Technologies, Physics-Chemical Institute of Environment and Human Protection, Scientific-Research Institute of Physics.
There are 76 departments (chairs), graduate and post-graduate schools. Richelie, Ochakov, Belhorod-Distrovskyi Lyceums work as a part of the University.
The University awards a Bachelor's Degree and a Specialist/Master's Degree.
