Osnovy Publishing

Osnovy Publishing was founded in 1992 by Bohdan Krawchenko and Solomea Pavlychko. Over the past twenty years, Osnovy has published over three hundred titles. After the collapse of the USSR, Ukraine was in critical need of literature in Ukrainian. Osnovy was created to fill this need.

The International Renaissance Foundation played an important role during the initial stages of Osnovy's development and has remained a valued partner. Thanks to the Foundation’s support, Osnovy has implemented a number of bold ideas and has gained a respected position among the publishers of independent Ukraine. Today Osnovy is actively developing a new range of books—books with unique content and design, conceived and created by Ukrainian authors, designers and illustrators. From beautifully crafted coffee table photography compilations to a range of children’s books and fun travel guides—Osnovy’s repertoire continues to grow.
